Prof. LI Hai now serves as a multi practicing physician at Jiahui Gastroenterology Department. He works as the chief hepatologist in the Department of Gastroenterology, Renji Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine and also as a research professor in Shanghai Institute of Digestive Diseases, deputy director of the Key Laboratory of Digestive diseases of Chinese Ministry of Health and Supervisor of Doctoral Student. For clinical specialty of Prof. Li, he is good at the treatment of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), HBV related Hepatitis or cirrhosis, auto-immune liver diseases, complications of decompensated cirrhosis and acute-on-chronic liver failure. Prof. Li completed post-doc training in New York University and then worked as a research fellow in University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. After that he obtained a PhD Degree in the University of Amsterdam, Netherlands. He has been engaged in the clinical practice as a hepatologist. His research interest is investigating pathogenesis and novel therapy for the acute-on-chronic liver failure. He founded Chinese (acute-on) chronic liver failure Consortium in 2015 and have finished a 14 centers, prospective observation study of acute-on-chronic liver failure in China and have built up the disease patients cohort in the world and is current chair of this consortium. His research was funded by National Natural Science Foundation, several national key research projects. He has published 40 original articles in peer journal, such as Journal of Hepatology, Hepatology in liver failure area. He also holds several patents about drug development for treating acute-on-chronic liver failure.
