Cardiovascular Medicine is an important subspecialty of internal medicine, which mainly studies the pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. Cardiovascular diseases are a series of diseases involving the heart, including atrium, ventricle, heart valve, coronary artery, pericardium and cardiac conduction system, etc. and arteries, including aorta, renal artery and peripheral artery, etc. They have high incidence, and high morbidity and mortality in populations.
Jiahui's cardiologists have rich clinical experience in the diagnosis and treatment of common cardiovascular diseases, including but not limited to hypertension, coronary heart disease, arrhythmia (various premature beat, atrial fibrillation, etc.), hyperlipidemia, valvular disease and heart failure. We are also strong in providing individualized care for patients with refractory hypertension, rare cardiomyopathy, complicated coronary heart disease and refractory heart failure.
Cardiovascular diseases are manifested in a variety of forms, such as chest tightness, chest pain and accompanied back pain or arm pain, upper abdominal discomfort, palpitation, dizziness, syncope, shortness of breath after activity or rest, lower limbs edema, etc.
There is a great variety of cardiovascular diseases. Clinically common diseases are:
• Hypertension：
primary hypertension, secondary hypertension, refractory hypertension, hypertension caused by renal artery stenosis, renal hypertension, hypertensive heart disease, etc.
• Coronary heart disease：
stable angina pectoris, unstable angina pectoris, variant angina pectoris, acute myocardial infarction, old myocardial infarction, postinfarction angina pectoris, ischemic cardiomyopathy, myocardial bridge, etc.
• Heart failure：
acute heart failure, chronic heart failure
• Cardiac arrhythmia：
atrial premature beat, ventricular premature beat, supraventricular tachycardia, ventricular tachycardia, atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, sinus standstill, atrioventricular block, sick sinus syndrome, pre-excitation syndrome, etc.
• Cardiomyopathy：
dilated cardiomyopathy, non-obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, restrictive cardiomyopathy, arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy/dysplasia, cardiac amyloidosis, etc.
• Hyperlipidemia：
hypertriglyceridemia, hypercholesterolemia, combined hyperlipidemia, etc.
• Myocarditis：
viral myocarditis, bacterial myocarditis, etc.
• Valvular heart disease：
mitral stenosis, mitral insufficiency , mitral valve prolapse syndrome, aortic stenosis, aortic insufficiency , tricuspid stenosis, tricuspid insufficiency , multivalvular heart disease, etc.
• Pericardial disease：
acute pericarditis, pericardial effusion, constrictive pericarditis, non-specific pericarditis, etc.
• Diseases of aorta and large artery：
aortic aneurysm, aorto-arteritis, aortic dissection, etc.
• Peripheral vascular diseases：
arteriosclerosis obliterans, phlebothrombosis, etc.
• Cardiac problems in other systemic diseases：
endocrine diseases, nutritional metabolic diseases, rheumatism, heart manifestations in kidney diseases, anemia heart disease，etc.
Shanghai Jiahui International Hospital has many senior experienced healthcare professionals with world-class facilities and equipments. Jiahui’s Cardiovascular Medicine has strong capacities and close collaboration with endocrinology and metabolism, respiratory medicine, rheumatology and immunology, neurology, laboratory medicine, imaging and other specialties in managing cardiovascular diseases. At present, we can perform common cardiovascular medicine specialty examinations, including electrocardiogram, 24-hour dynamic electrocardiogram, 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure, stress test, cardiopulmonary exercise testing, six-minute walking test, transthoracic echocardiography, transesophageal echocardiography, stress echocardiography, isotope resting and stress myocardial imaging, blood pool imaging, coronary CTA, etc. In addition to traditional medical treatment, we can carry out cardioversion for patients with atrial fibrillation, cardiac rehabilitation for patients with post-myocardial infarction and heart failure. We also have collaboration with Jiahui Wellness Center to provide lifestyle modification counseling in nutrition, physical exercises and psychology for patients with cardiovascular diseases. We will launch coronary angiography, electrophysiological examination, and radiofrequency ablation in 2020. Furthermore, Jiahui’s general inpatient services, ICU and cardiac rehabilitation service also play important roles in rescue, treatment and rehabilitation of critically ill patients with cardiovascular diseases.
Dr. Rong Liu is a cardiovascular medicine specialist with more than ten-year experience in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. She is an expert in hypertension, coronary artery disease, heart failure and cardiac arrhythmia and has in-depth research in medical and interventional therapies for coronary artery disease.
Dr. Zhenzhen Jia is a specialist in cardiovascular physiology with nearly 10-year experience in electrocardiogram diagnosis, stress test, cardiopulmonary exercise testing, dynamic electrocardiogram, ambulatory blood pressure, and other cardiovascular physiology tests, etc.

Dr. Wei received his bachelor’s degree in Clinical Medicine from Shihezi University School of Medicine in 1982 and his PhD degree from Shanghai Medical College (now known as Shanghai Medical College of Fudan University) in 1991. Then he went for further study of interventional cardiology in the United States and Germany in 1995 and 1997. Prior to joining Jiahui Health, Dr. Wei was the Chief of Cardiology Center and Chief of Cardiology Department at a Class A tertiary hospital and received a special government allowance. Dr. Wei’s clinical practice and research mainly focuses on coronary heart disease and interventional heart disease, especially the diagnosis and treatment of coronary heart disease and heart failure, and the interventional diagnosis and treatment of heart diseases.
Dr. Wei is an expert committee member of Chinese Society of Cardiology of Chinese Medical Association, an academic member of Chinese Medical Association heart intervention training center, the vice chair of the cardiovascular disease branch of Shanghai Medical Association, as well as a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC), a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians (FCCP) and a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology (FESC). He also serves as a special editorial board member of the Chinese Journal of Cardiology, and editorial board member of Journal of Clinical Cardiology, Journal of Interventional Radiology, International Journal of Cardiovascular Diseases, Chest (Chinese version), Journal of the American College of Cardiology (JACC) (Chinese version), and Chinese Journal of Multi-Organ Diseases in the Elderly. Dr. Wei has won a second prize for scientific and technological progress given by China’s Ministry of Education, a third prize for Shanghai medical achievements, and a Second Prize for the State Scientific and Technological Progress Award.
